Huskers tailgating in Miami – photos from fans

facebooktwitterreddit

First, a BIG RED thank you to all of those who sent in photos of tailgating down in sweltering Miami this past weekend! It sounds like from most all the reports that the Miami fans were nice to the Husker faithful that made the trek down south.  That’s good to hear.

What was bad/sad to see was the lack of Hurricane butts in the seats at the field. I guess I’m just spoiled with a Sea of Red but wowzers! That stadium didn’t even look like it was half full. And I don’t want to hear that there are lots of things to do in Miami. It’s still a college and still a college football game and that’s a dang shame because that Kaaya kid is pretty dang QB.

The Friday night before the game, Cornhuskers were meeting up at the bars like the Hardrock Café and McSorley’s. There was plenty of heat and humidity Saturday so shade was key to surviving the day until kickoff at 2:30. Husker Alumni had things shaking and baking as well.

It’s estimated that about 10,000 Huskers were in the stands on gameday. There was even a moment on the television where the crowd was loud enough to make audible the chant “GO BIG RED.” My friends who went to the game said the only really unbearable part was the humidity. However, it  looks like the team handled the conditions well. There wasn’t a lot of cramping going on so kudos to the Husker staff.

At the end of the day the Huskers fell short of a win but there was no quit in this team and that’s impressive. All of the fair weather fans who turned the tv off or left early really missed out. Lots of positives to take away from the game and I’m still looking forward to what’s in store for the rest of the year.

Stay tuned to Husker Corner and we’ll keep you up to date on the latest. Check out our injury report on Michael Rose-Ivey, or other defensive issues left to be solved. I’m going on record as saying DeMornay will be back on the field for the Wisconsin game. Yep, I said it.
