Nebraska Football Recruiting: Devin White Coveted By Big Red

There are running back depth charts and then there’s what the Nebraska football recruiting staff has put together. Looking at who’s in the stable, it’s clear that the Huskers can reload at year in and year out.

Ameer Abdullah, Imani Cross, Terrell Newby, Adam Taylor, they’ll likely all get touches this year. The last two in that group were considered the best backs out of California and Texas, respectively two cycles ago.

Kendall Bussey is the representative for the 2015 class, but no staff can stop with this cycle or even the next.

As for now, Nebraska’s after a major 2016 Louisiana running back prospect that looks to be LSU’s to lose on paper, and maybe he is.

However, like Morgan Freeman once said, “Either get busy ‘crootin’, or get busy dyin.” I think he said that. If he didn’t, he should’ve.

Let me introduce you to Devin White.

Six feet and 224 pounds of bayou badass. Ranked as the No. 18 running back and No. 14 in-state prospect, White also enjoys the No. 220 spot overall according to the 247Sports Comporite Index.

He attended the June 7 Big Red Weekend session and the staff clearly made in-roads. Now it’s time to cultivate the relationship. The next piece of the puzzle is getting White back to Lincoln for an official visit.

If the staff’s able to pull him to in for a third trip, it’d be a monumental step in the right direction.

To give you an idea of how much of a head start LSU’s had, White was offered by the Tigers last June. He’s attended two camps and taken two unofficial visits since that time. Suddenly, you see just how much effort Ron Brown has put into showing him a future in Lincoln.

Should Abdullah have the kind of season that’s being hyped, it’ll go a long way towards recruiting elite running backs in the future, just like White.
