Oklahoma Running Back High On Nebraska

facebooktwitterreddit

Even though Nebraska has moved to the Big 10 Conference, their roots are still deep in Big 12 country. For Tulsa, OK. Union High School running back Kendall Holmes, this is all too true.

“I grew up watching Oklahoma vs. Nebraska,” Holmes said. “Nebraska is such a great program, and have been for such a long time. I just love the tradition they have their.  I always like their running backs there. When I was younger I grew up watching (Marlon) Lucky when he was at Nebraska. He was one of my favorite players.”

The talanted 5-foot-11, 185 lb junior has not received any verbal offers of scholarships, but has been recieving a lot of attention from a lot mid-western schools.

“No offers yet but I get a lot of mail and talk to a lot of schools,” Holmes said. ” I have talked to Oklahoma, Texas, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri and I get a lot of letters from Nebraska and Notre Dame, but I haven talked to them yet.”

Holmes says that the school that is recruiting him the hardest has been the Jayhawks.

“Of all the schools I talk to, Kansas probably recruits me the hardest,” Holmes said. “They have a new coaching staff and are rebuilding their program. Being a part of that would be cool. Their new head coach came from the New England Patriots, and a coach with an NFL back ground is something to consider. I guess my interest level would be medium as far as Kansas goes.”

As for the two schools he is most interested in, Holmes said that Oklahoma and Nebraska are the two he is most likely to look at first.

“If I had to plan my five official visits right now it would be hard,” Holmes said. “I would go to Nebraska, Oklahoma, Kansas, Missouri, and either Texas Tech, or maybe somewhere out west.  I have always wanted to see the schools out west. Maybe Arizona State.

The talented tailback plans to keep a very busy summer as far as football is concerned.

“I have a few camps lined up this summer,” Holmes said. “I plan on going to the TCU, Texas, and the Underclassmen Camp. The Underclassmen Camps are done locally. The first ones in Tulsa, and if I make it to the top 100 then I keep going on from their. I think the next one is in Texas.”
