While former Nebraska football head coach Scott Frost made too many mistakes to count, one of the bigger ones that isn't talked about enough was his misuse of wide receiver/running back Wan'Dale Robinson to a degree that chased the talented player away from Lincoln and back to his home state.
What always made chasing Robinson away more frustrating was what a great recruiting win it was when Frost landed the Kentucky native in the first place. It was a fantastic head-to-head victory over the Wildcats for one of the best players at his position in the class. The Huskers beat out more than just the SEC also-ran; they also beat power 4 programs, even if those programs don't want to admit it.
Nebraska résumé and NFL numbers underline Wan'Dal Robinson’s value despite recruiting claims
In fact, when disgraced former Ohio State wide receivers coach Zach Smith tried to claim that the Buckeyes weren't all that interested in the former Nebraska football star during his high school recruitment, Robinson had the last laugh.
considering i still took an OV to OSU i think i was a take😂😂 https://t.co/2Mh62Xl7wo

Smith tried to tell a tale on his Menace 2 Sports account that claimed that when Urban Meyer was recruiting Robinson, when the player told him how he was considering Kentucky, the famed coach soured on him immediately.
"He was like, 'We don't recruit against Kentucky. If you want to go to Kentucky, that's a red flag for me. We don't want you,'" Smith recalled. "And I was like, 'Oh f---.'"
"He was like, 'We're talking about Kentucky. You don't have what it takes here. I want guys that are talking to me about the NFL draft or, man, it's between you and Bama or Kentucky. Go to Kentucky.' I was like, 'Ooh.'"
After the now New York Giants player saw the clip, he didn't have a ton to say, but he did want to set the record straight. Quoting the post, the former Husker replied simply, "Considering i still took an OV to OSU I think I was a take." He included two laughing emojis to drive the point home.
Whether he was a take for Ohio State or not, Wan'Dale Robinson had a heck of a college career. For the Nebraska football team, he caught 91 passes for 914 yards and 3 touchdowns in two years while also rushing for 580 yards and 4 more TDs. In his final year in the college ranks for Kentucky, he caught 104 passes for 1,334 yards and 7 TDs. In three years for the Giants, he has 176 catches for 1,451 yards and 5 touchdowns.
