The Nebraska Cornhuskers have been put through he ringer in the Transfer Portal this past week. There were some highs when Matt Rhule and company thought they got their guy of the future with the commitment from former Notre Dame quarterback Kenny Minchey. However, days later, he flipped his commitment to Kentucky, leaving the Cornhuskers in the dust.

Now, Nebraska has gained another commitment from a Transfer Portal quarterback, and that is former UNLV quarterback Anthony Colandrea. Granted, it should be known that the Cornhuskers still have to sign Colandrea, but there is hope that they are already in the process of doing that.

Colandrea played two seasons at Virginia before transferring to UNLV. He has 7,542 career passing yards and 49 touchdowns. His best season was undoubtedly his most recent, with 3,459 passing yards and 23 touchdowns with only nine interceptions.

Nebraska fans should be excited for the fresh look QB Anthony Colandrea brings to the Cornhuskers

While Colandrea isn't Dylan Raiola, and he may not have the experience with the team as Raiola did, it doesn't mean he won't have success in Lincoln. Colandrea helped lead UNLV to a 10-4 record, finishing first in the Mountain West.

Below is a video of one of Colandrea's passes this season against UCLA, a team they beat, and by the looks of it, he clearly has great accuracy.

Colandrea was able to put that pass exactly where it needed to be for his receiver to make the catch away from the defender. Nebraska certainly has some talented pass catchers, but there were times Raiola struggled with accuracy this past season.

Sometimes an offense just needs a fresh look to help it take that needed step forward, and Colandrea could bring just that to the Cornhuskers in 2026. Now, Nebraska has an entire offseason to get him up to speed, and may even have a quarterback battle between Colandrea and TJ Lateef.
