Inches separated Nebraska from heartbreak and glory, and the Huskers were lucky to be on the glory side of it in the end.

Nebraska and Vanderbilt quite possibly just played the best game of the NCAA Tournament, and it truly came down to the final buzzer. With the game tied and Nebraska in possession of the ball, Braden Frager received a pass down the lane for a contested layup that gave the Huskers a two-point lead with only two seconds left.

Vanderbilt had one more chance to hit the one shot Nebraska fans wouldn't want to see, a three-pointer. It was no surprise that the Commodores put the ball in the hands of their leading scorer on the night, Tyler Tanner.

Tanner was inbounded the ball, and after one dribble and Sam Hoiberg's hand in his face, he threw up a long-range half-court shot, and everyone in the building held their breath as the buzzer sounded. The shot git square on the backboard, rolled in, and out, crushing the hopes of Vandy and their fans.

For a shot that took seconds to take, it felt like an eternity for both Nebraska and Vandy, especially when it seemed like it was about to go in. What is even crazier is the still photo of the shot, as it was about to go in. The ball was literally halfway in the basket, but there was just too much power, and it rimmed out.

Nebraska'a first trip to the Sweet 16 didn't come without a few heart attacks

Vanderbilt certainly gave Nebraska everything it could handle in their round of 32 matchup. The game was everything fans want out of a March Madness game, and the Commodores certainly came to play.

After a strong first half, Nebraska needed to finish the job in the final 20 minutes, but Vandy wasn't planning to go away quietly. The Commodores roared back and even took the lead in the final 10 minutes, forcing Nebraska to play with its back against the wall.

Heroic plays from both Braden Frager and Sam Hoiberg saved Nebraska in the end, and even though Tanner almost hit the last shot, everyone knows almost only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades.

Nebraska is heading to the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history, and with the momentum this team has right now, it feels like the ride could keep going all the way to the National Championship.
