Since Matt Rhule took over the Nebraska football program and Deion Sanders took the helm of the Colorado Buffaloes, there’s been no love lost between the two teams. And next week, the programs will meet one more time.
It will be the last time for the near future. And should the Huskers not find a way to beat a Buffs team that has some impressive offensive weapons, they’ll go 0-for-4 in this latest series that restarted when Scott Frost was “the man.”
Despite the fact that Shedeur Sanders once again showed he’s likely the best quarterback Nebraska football will face all season on Thursday night, the Las Vegas oddsmakers still believe the Huskers are the team to beat. And all things considered, they don’t think it will be all that close.
Nebraska footbal getting lots of love from Vegas oddsmakers
According to Draft Kings, the Huskers are a 7-point favorite over the Buffaloes. Most other sportsbooks have a similar spread, give or take half a point.
What does that tell us?
Not a whole hell of a lot. Though it does demonstrate that perhaps the general public isn’t quite as impressed by Colorado’s win over North Dakota State as I was. That they think NU will be able to slow down Sanders and make mince meat of CU’s defense.
All of that sounds very good to me.
Now the Nebraska footbal team needs to take care of business. That line will almost certainly move over the next week. It’s possible it could even get bigger should the Cornhuskers blast UTEP.
