While a pair of former Nebraska Cornhuskers stars have the privilege of playing in the summer Olympics, Tuesday was not exactly a fantastic day for either Jack McVeigh and his Australian National Team. It also wasn’t a remotely good day for Keisei Tominaga Japan’s Olympic basketball team.

Tominaga and Japan fell to France 94-90 in OT Tuesday. While that’s bad news for Tominaga, the French are in control of Group B thanks to the come from behind win and are primed to advance to the quarterfinals.

Worse than the loss was that for whatever reason, Tominaga got very little action. In fact, For the second consecutive game at the Paris Olympics, the former Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball star played less than a minute. This time, Tominaga saw the floor for just six seconds.

Meanwhile, McVeigh and Australia men's basketball just didn't have enough to finish off Canada.

The Boomers led 49-45 at the half but couldn't keep pace after the break, falling to Canada 93-83. The Canadians are now on top of Group A with four points in the standings while Australia and Spain have three points, with the Boomers holding the second spot based on a better point differential.

Unlike Tominaga, McVeigh is actually seeing some action. The former Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball player scored nine points off the bench.

While Australia still has a chance at advancing, Japan doesn’t appear to have much at all. Because of that, it might be time to get Tominaga some time. Maybe the former Nebraska Cornhuskers star can spark something.
