Ole Miss and Lane Kiffin are losing commits at a strange rate and Nebraska football is looking to be one of the beneficiaries.

While the Nebraska football team has suffered a couple of recruiting losses over the last few weeks, they’re also working overtime to try and make another program’s misery their ecstasy. That’s why the Huskers just entered the race for 5-star wide receiver Jerome Myles.

Until recently, Myles was a commit to the Ole Miss Rebels. However the top player in the state of Utah and the 5th best receiver in the entire 2025 class is back on the market. In fact he joins what has been quite a few other players that have thought better about their commitment pledges to Ole Miss.

This past season, Myles, who is also a track star, caught 19 passes for 486 yards and six touchdowns — he missed time with a broken ankle. After his return, though, Myles caught five passes for 122 yards and two touchdowns in the 6A state championship game.

Nebraska football steps forward for former Ole Miss commit

Myles committed to Ole Miss in late April and maintained that commitment until earlier this week.

"I would like to thank Ole Miss and Coach (George) McDonald for the time and effort they put into recruiting me and for welcoming me with open arms," he wrote on social media. "However, after much consideration, I would like to announce that I am decommitting from (Ole Miss) and will be reopening my recruitment."

In the past two weeks, he’s taken official visits to Utah and Texas A&M, according to 247 Sports, and will be taking an official visit to Michigan in late July. In other words, it doesn’t appear that the 5-star wide receiver is going to pull the trigger on a commitment anytime soon.

That could be good news for the Huskers who are hoping to make up ground. The next step is that the Nebraska football team would need an official visit. It’s unclear how likely that is in the coming months.
