If Nebraska Football is going to land one of the best players in the state for the 2025 class, Matt Rhule and company apparently have some work to do. While it looks as though one of the biggest rivals in play for Omaha Westside’s Christian Jones has dropped off, other schools are rushing in to take its place.

Right at the top of the list of new rivals for Nebraska Football when it comes to the race for Jones is a brand new Big Ten rival. It appears that the USC Trojans could be the next “big bad” the Huskers are going to have to fight off if they want to land the 4-star prospect.

According to Greg Smith of Rivals, Jones recently visited to see what the Trojans have to offer. Not long after getting home from that trip, the linebacker said USC “exceeded expectations.” That’s never a particularly good thing to hear for Nebraska Football backers.

Even worse news is that it’s not just what the famed football school offers on the field that raised Jones’ eyebrows.

“I was very surprised about what USC was about and what they offer and what opportunities a USC degree brings you,” Jones told Smith “Then on top of that being an athlete at USC.”

It’s worth pointing out that schools from across the country seem to believe they can pry the Westside product away from Nebraska Football.

In addition to his trip to USC, Jones has also taken unofficial visits to Tennessee and Texas A&M in the last week.

The question now becomes, will Nebraska Football be able to fight off teams from all over the country the way they did for top prospects like Carter Nelson? Or will the Huskers lose out on one of the best players in the state like they did in Teddy Rezac?
