It's been a rather up and down month of December for Nebraska football and its fans. There's been a lot of hope that the Huskers would add several players whowill could help the team go bowling in 2024. So far, nothing has panned out in the portal, whether it was a rumored wide receiver, a rumored quarterback, or a defensive player.
One of the players that Nebraska football fans had hoped to land was former Florida running back Trevor Etienne. Not long after he entered the portal, it appeared there was some smoke to the rumors that he was leaning towards the Cornhuskers. However, one recruiting expert recently made it clear that those rumors didn't carry much weight.
On3's Pete Nakos spent a bit of time on X answering questions from various college football fans earlier this week. Understandably, Nebraska football fans wanted some answers on the Trevor Etienne talk. Unfortunatley, it turns out that Nakos doesn't believe there's anything there.
One X user asked Nakos flat out. "Pete, is there any smoke with Trevor Etienne and Nebraska?" He didn't waste any time or characters with his answer, simply saying, "nope."
In a week where it appears that the Huskers have lost out on Ohio State wide receiver Julian Fleming, as well as Buckeyes quarterback Kyle McCord, the news that Etienne doesn't really seem to be looking towards Lincoln isn't exactly great news.
Nebraska football not trending for Trevor Etienne?
The biggest question that has to be asked is just how the rumors that the former Florida running back was looking at the Cornhuskers started in the first place. Granted, the Nebraska football coaching staff has been working hard all over the country,
At least part of the reason Nebraska football fans thought Etienne was looking towards Lincoln is because he posted a picture of Chief Borders on his Instagram story. However, that now looks like the ex-Gator simply showing support to former teammates who have gone elsewhere.
