There’s plenty of reasons for Nebraska football fans to be excited about this fall. It turns out that one more reason for excitement could end up being that they don’t have to watch Pat McAfee on their TV screens on Saturday mornings.

Forget Dylan Raiola waking the sleeping giant. Forget Year 2 of Matt Rhule’s regimes always being quite a bit better than Year 1.

Nebraska football fans should really be celebrating the possibility of no longer being forced to watch Pat McAfee act like a human cowpatty for a couple of hours every Saturday morning on ESPN GameDay. Maybe the network is finally realizing that the sports version of Joe Rogan isn’t someone that needs to be highlighted every week during the college football season.

Nebraska football fans might not have to watch Pat McAfee act like a moron every week this fall

According to Saturdays Down South, reports began flying around the internet on Tuesday that ESPN has not yet signed the podcast host to a new contract for College GameDay. The network has a separate contract for his daily show, which is sadly still going on.

Nebraska fans might remember that McAfee covered the Huskers in his special racist, repulsive way back in March when NU was bounced from the NCAA Tournament. His show did a segment that posited that Keisei Tominaga might commit suicide because of the loss.

Those who don’t watch his daily show could be spared more of his nonsense in part because ESPN is changing up the desk for the GameDay crew. If Pat McAfee isn’t brought back to Saturday mornings, it could be that the hiring of Nick Saban is a big facilitator in that.

If Nebraska football fans are spared from Pat McAfee on Saturdays this fall, that would be a good first step. Until he’s finally fired for good.
