Nebraska football has played, but never beaten these programs

Though the Huskers have one of the greatest winning traditions in college football, they are winless against these notable programs.

Nebraska vs. Houston

Another program that Nebraska has only met once is Houston. Again, this meeting was in the Cotton Bowl, this time on New Year's Day 1980, the final game of the 1979 season.

This matchup saw No. 7 Nebraska take on No. 8 Houston in Dallas. It was a close game but the Huskers fell 17-14.

Following a loss the No. 8 Oklahoma the game prior, one that ended hopes of a National Championship for the Huskers, this loss was a disappointing way to end the season. As a result, the Huskers would end up ranked No. 9 in the country.

Back then, Houston was a dominant force in the Southwest Conference. Now, the Cougars are in the Big 12 meaning they could cross paths with the Huskers in another bowl game at some point. However. there are no current games scheduled between these two programs so the Huskers may have to sit on this series deficit for a while.
