The Nebraska football team has been reeling in one legacy prospect after another under head coach Matt Rhule. Earlier this week, the staff worked hard to keep that streak going with a visit to Corey Simms.

The Christian Brothers College wide receiver out of Saint Louis is one of those 2025 wide receiver prospects that is rising through the ranks and getting quite a bit of attention of late. The Nebraska football staff wanted to make sure that the player was feeling as though he got plenty of attention from them.

Simms posted a picture from their visit on Twitter that showed that nearly the entire staff went out to Saint Louis in order to see him. Rhule, offensive coordinator Marcus Satterfield, running backs coach EJ Barthel, receivers coach Garrett McGuire, and new quarterbacks and co-offensive coordinator Glenn Thomas were all in attendance.

That kind of turnout shows just how badly the Husker staff wants to bring Corey Simms to Lincoln. It seems to some degree, the 2025 prospect is liking the attention he’s getting and once again, the approach from Rhule and his staff is working.

Part of the reason why the Husker coaches want him is because it would be nice to lure in another legacy prospect. Especially one that has a different story. Simms’ father didn’t play football in Lincoln, he played basketball. Corey Simms Sr.

Nebraska also wants him because he’s one of the best wide receivers in the class who hauled down 79 passes for 1,049 yards and 12 touchdowns in his junior season.

If the Nebraska football wants to reel him in, they’re going to have to fight off some of the best teams in the country, including Georgia, Michigan and Penn State among others.
