Nebraska Football coach reveals tampering in transfer portal
One of the most longstanding pieces of gossip when it comes to transfer portal is that tampering goes on all the time. It’s assumed that Nebraska Football has been the victim of this from time to time. We have to hope that they haven’t done much tampering themselves, but for the most part, there hasn’t been any direct accusations.
That changed on Tuesday during Matt Rhule’s latest press conference on the same day that the spring transfer portal window opened. While Rhule isn’t worried about losing any players to the portal beyond Eric Fields and Corey Collier, that apparently isn’t from a lack of trying from other coaches.
During his press conference talking about the portal, Rhule made it clear that he knows coaches have come after some Nebraska Football players:
"We've had players on our team already have people from other teams contact them. Come in and walk in and say 'Coach, look at this'... Its a sad state of college football."
Nebraska Football coach knows that tampering is going on and has seen proof it happens
It’s not as though Rhule is coming with a story out of thin air. Former Alabama player, former Iowa commit and now Alabama commit again, Kadyn Proctor basically admitted that the Hawkeyes coaches tampered with Proctor when was playing with the Crimson Tide.
Tampering going on in the portal is just one of those things that most people know is happening. It’s why so many players hit the portal the minute it opens. Because coaches have come calling and promised them a spot on a new team when and if they leave.
This is only Rhule’s second year with the Nebraska Football team, but it’s the first time he’s been this blatant and straight forward about tampering going on. The question now is will the NCAA do anything about it, no matter how much evidence is presented.
