Nebraska Cornhuskers who had the most memorable NFL careers
No. 7: Neil Smith
Another defensive end from Nebraska to make his mark in the NFL was Neil Smith. Playing form 1988-2000, he was a member of the Kansas City Chiefs, Denver Broncos, and San Diego Chargers.
The No. 2 overall pick in the 1988 NFL Draft, Smith brought plenty of expectations into the league. Fortunately, he lived up to his billing.
Smith was a first-team All-Pro in 1993. That year, he had 15.0 sacks and 55 tackles. What's more, in 1992, 1995, and 1997 he was a second-team All-Pro honoree.
A six-time Pro Bowl member (1991-95, 1997), he was known for being able to force fumbles. He ended his career with 30.
With 625 career tackles and 104.5 sacks, Smith was one of the best defensive players of his generation. He's also one of the best Cornhusker alums to ever play in the NFL.
