Any worries that the Nebraska Cornhuskers might suffer a letdown after an emotional couple of weeks leading up to the season opener, and then a big match against the No. 9 team in the country were misplaced. And best of all, the Huskers absolutely made it clear very early on, that those worries could be put away.

Following up their four-set win over the Kentucky Wildcats, the Nebraska volleyball team beat up on Texas A&M Corpus Christi in their home opener in straight sets. But that doesn’t really describe the level of domination that occurred on Friday night.

Setter Bergen Reilly served an unreal start to the Nebraska Cornhuskers match, including three aces that helped her team reach a 10-0 lead in the first set. From there, they were able to cruise and took the first set 25-9. After that, they finished off the match by winning the second set 25-20 and the third set 25-15.

One of the most interesting aspects of what turned into a ho-hum match in a hurry was that the Huskers brought in former Big Ten Player of the Year Taylor Landfair for the first time this season in the third set. Transfer middle blocker Leyla Blackwell made her first appearance as well.

Cook was rewarded for putting in his reserves by getting to watch Landfair make some of those "wow" kills that he’d talked about during the offseason. One of the newest additions to the Nebraska Cornhuskers finished with five kills on 10 attempts.
