Nebraska Cornhuskers rally to series victory over GCU
There was a time on Sunday when it looked like the Nebraska Cornhuskers were going to find a way to take an 8-1 lead and end up losing. It would hardly be the first time this season Will Bolt's squad snatched defeat from the jaws of victory. It's been a bit of a bumpy ride to start the season.
However, if there's one thing the four-game series against Grand Canyon University did, it shows that it appears Bolt has the Huskers pointed in the right direction. Despite taking and losing an 8-1 lead, the Cornhuskers managed to rally one more time and beat GCU 10-8.
One reason the two teams were battling it out until the final couple of innings is because both squads had some very big innings. For NU, a 6 run third inning padded an early 2-1 lead and there was a sense that Bolt's squad was going to roll.
However an absolutely disastrous bottom of the ffith for the Huskers allowed the Lopes to tie it at 8. From there on it was the kind of pitcher's duel the series really didn't see all weekend.
Cayden Brumbaugh started off the final rally with a leadoff single in the 8th inning. Though it was quite the odd rally. Brumbaugh advanced to second on Riley Silva’s sacrifice bunt. Dylan Carey was then hit by a pitch and both runners moved up one base on Josh Caron’s groundout.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers then regained the lead when Brumbaugh scored on a passed ball. Carey then gave them the cusion they didn't need with a straight steal of home.
Four pitchers managed to then close things out in the 8th and 9th innings and allowed the Nebraska Cornhuskers to win three of four at the home of one of the best WAC teams out there.
