The No. 2 Nebraska Cornhuskers volleyball team won their home opener on Friday night verus Texas A&M Corpus Christi. The Huskers swept the Islanders (25-9, 25-20, 25-15) in front of nearly 9,000 fans at the Bob Devaney Sports Center and it looked as though the match could have been even more of a dominating experience than it was.

The Huskers finished the match with a .427 hitting percentage while holding the Islanders to .143. The .427 hitting percentage is the best by a Husker team since hitting .457 against Michigan in 2021.

On both the offensive and the defense, the Nebraska Cornhuskers looked like the bigger, better and badder team. They finished with 48 kills, 48 digs, and 7.5 blocks on the night.

Meanwhile, the downtrodden Islanders logged 30 kills, 33 digs, and two blocks.

Its should come as no surprise that the one of the biggest reasons the Huskers were able to romp was Bergen Reilly who led NU with 36 assists, 10 digs, 5 service aces, 4 kills, and 3 blocks. In other words, there wasn't anything she didn't do extremely well.

Husker fans will get to see what their team can do against a better opponent on Saturday night as they take on TCU at The Bob at 7:30pm. After the game, the fanbase was unsurprisingly happy about the victory, even if it wasn't as big as the match against Kentucky.
