If the Nebraska Cornhuskers want to strengthen their resume and go to the NCAA Tournament they are going to need to win games like the one they played on Wednesday night against Rutgers.
They’re going to have a much better chance to win games down the stretch if they have Juwan Gary with them. Unfortunately, the Huskers forward suffered an injury in the second half of the game against the Scarlet Knights that looked like it could be a season ender, at first glance.
What has Nebraska Cornhuskers fans most concerned about the injury is that it didn’t occur in the aftermath of a collision, or when Gary was trying to make a cut. What has people most concerned is that it occurred as he was just headed up the court to take his spot on the court in the Nebraska offense.
On the way up the court, Gary took what looked like an awkward step, then went into a half crouch and started hobbling to the Nebraska sideline as the rest of the action was on the other side of the court.
The Husker forward could be seen having trouble putting any weight at all on the injured leg and as he left the court all together to get looked at in the locker room, it was clear he was visibly upset.
Juwan Gary’s injury could be big blow to Nebraska Cornhuskers
While the severity of the injury is not yet known yet, it didn’t appear to be one that was minor at all. Several Husker fans and media analysts immediately started positing what could be the issue and it it’s true, the prognosis is not good.
Watching Juwan Gary limp off the court like that was especially painful considering that he missed quite a bit of time last season after tearing his ACL. 2023-2024 was supposed to be his redemption tour. And it had been up until Wednesday night.
Juwan Gary entered the Rutgers game averaging 11.9 points and 5.8 rebounds per contest while shooting 52 percent from the field. It’s an understatement to say his loss is a big one, assuming he’s out for any length of time for the Nebraska Cornhuskers.
