Well, that took no time at all. Just hours after a clip of ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum ripped into Nebraska football head coach Matt Rhule, one of his former players has in turn, ripped rather mightily into Finebaum.

The pundit took issue with Rhule telling the audience at this week’s Big Ten Media Days that he thinks the conference deserves to regularly get four bids in the college football playoffs. In his over the top reaction to the Husker coach’s comments, Finebaum told Rhule to stay in his lane and made fun of his days in Carolina.

Nebraska football offensive lineman takes no prisoners in ripping analyst

Once the comments went viral on social media, former Nebraska football offensive lineman Ethan Piper blasted the analyst on Twitter. He took no prisoners, making it clear he didn’t believe that Finebaum could possibly do the job that Rhule has done.

“This fires me up!” Piper wrote. “Trying to be respectful as possible but that man would soil himself trying to do the job Coach Rhule is doing right now.”

He didn’t stop there either. In the process, he showed that the players, even the ones that only played for Rhule for one season, are behind the Husker coach 100 percent.

Ethan Piper goes to bat for Nebraska football’s Matt Rhule

When a follower commented on Piper’s comment that Finebaum’s issue was that the ESPN analyst only likes the SEC, the former Husker made it clear this wasn’t about loyalty to the Big Ten.

I don’t care what conference and at one point I sued the Big Ten. I comment because Coach Rhule changes lives and our world needs more of that nowadays.

The comment drew agreement from another former Husker offensive lineman too. Former “Pipeline” member Rob Zatechka chimed in saying, “those who can, do. Those who can’t, go shill for the SEC.”

What’s clear from all of this is that pundits should take care going after the Nebraska football head coach like this. There are plenty of guys who have his back.
