Early lines have Nebraska football as solid favorite over undefeated Rutgers
There are some people who believe that the best way to figure out just how good a team can be is how they are against the spread. If you believe in that sort of thing, then the Huskers are a pretty good team.
NU enters Sunday as 4-1 against the spread. Their only loss ATS is their only straight up loss on the season as well.
That’s a nice record versus Vegas and it could be a harbinger of things to come. The Nebraska football team also enters this week, a big one where they can make a statement against an undefeated team as the favorite. And it’s not a particularly small spread.
The early lines for the Huskers vs Rugers has Matt Rhule’s squad as a 6.5-point favorite. And it’s also a bit surprising considering how NU has looked at times in the last few weeks.

Against Illinois, the Huskers’ offense looked unstoppable at times. And at others it looked like NU couldn’t get out of its own way. Against Purdue, the entire team looked weirdly out of whack in the first half.
In the second half, things got righted to the point where they won 28-10. Rutgers, on the other hand, has looked surprisingly good from Week 1 on.
Sure, the Scarlet Knights first two wins were against Howard and Akron and those were supposed to be blowouts. But then they went to Virginia Tech and pulled off an upset and then hosted the Washington Huskies notched another victory.
Now, Greg Schiano and company will face off against a Nebraska football team looking to continue it’s best start to the season since 2016. Both teams have a ton to play for, but the Huskers are expected to win. Now they need to back that up.
