Former Nebraska football star Ameer Abdullah’s football career is still going strong. But the running back and special teams ace is still working hard on what could be his next career. To that end, Abdullah is taking to the big screen later this year as one of the leads in a new action flick.

Abdullah already has several forays into the film world as a producer, screenwriter, and actor, is going to be starring alongside a man who was once one of the hottest names in Hollywood. Abdullah is appearing in Break the Cycle alongside none other than Cuba Gooding Jr.

Break the Cycle is what’s being called a “high-stakes urban drama” that is being written by former NBA player Jarnell Stokes. Production for the new film is set to start next month and the cast includes quite a few well-known names such as Vivica A. Fox (Independence Day), former NFL tight end Vernon Davis, former UFC champion Quinton “Rampage” Jackson, Loretta Devine (Waiting to Exhale), and Kym Whitley (Next Friday.

According to a recent release, Abdullah will play the leader of a steet gang by the name of K-Money.

“This film is a heart-pounding journey through the world of streetball that explores themes of family, ambition, and the moral complexities of urban life. It tells the story of navigating a treacherous path, an unfortunate reality for far too many young boys in our urban communities,” said Stokes. “I’m so excited to have Ameer as part of this tremendously talented group of actors who will help bring this project to life.”
