No. 3: Will Shields

Kansas City Chiefs

Guard

1993 - 3rd Round

It wouldn't be right to have a Nebraska football all-time list and not include an offensive lineman. After all, no position is more synonymous with the Huskers than the O-line.

Back in 1993, guard Will Shields was a third-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs and that began one of the best careers of any offensive lineman of his generation.

A member of the NFL All-Decade team for the 2000s, Shields was a three-time first-team All-Pro (1999, 2002, 2003) and a four-time second-team All-Pro selection (1997, 2004-06). What's more, he was a 12-time Pro Bowl selection.

He is in the Kansas City Chiefs Hall of Fame and he was the 2003 Walter Payton Man of the Year for his work in the community. That's quite the career for a third-round pick.

Shields had the best NFL career of any player on this list. However, he doesn't rank at the top because he was taken in the third round.

That's a point in the draft when players are expected to become major contributors. Still, Shields wildly surpassed expectations by putting together a career that made him a Pro Football Hall of Fame inductee in 2015. Thus, he checks in at No. 3 on our list of Nebraska draft gems.
