The Nebraska basketball team is coming off the biggest and best win of the 2025-26 season so far. They rallied for a victory over Oklahoma after starting the game poorly and once trailing by 15. And after they rallied for that win, OU head coach Porter Moser was quite impressed by the Huskers after the big game on Saturday night.
In particular, Moser pointed out that he thinks NU will be dancing come the end of the year. Obviously, some of that is a coach who was beaten wanting to make it look better for his own team. But he also went into specifics about why he thinks Fred Hoiberg has an excellent team on his hands.
"They're, you know, with the shooters, the execution, toughness. They've got some older guys. You know, they've got some older guys that have been there. Very, very good team. You'll see them in March. I really believe that. I can't say enough. You've got to credit Nebraska," Moser said while talking to the media on Saturday night.
Nebraska basketball could be headed to the Big Dance, says Oklahoma coach
The 105-99 win for the Huskers was their eighth in a row dating back to last season. By knocking off Oklahoma, they also showed that they can hang with squads expected to at least be on the bubble.
If Nebraska is on the bubble in March, Moser is pretty sure Rienk Mast will have something to do with it.
"They're hard to guard when you got a guy like Mast," Moser added. "He can roll you on the post with a switch, but then he can pick-and-pop you on a 3 with a different ball screen coverage. When he and (Pryce) Sandfort are hitting them from that deep, very hard to guard. But elite, elite, elite atmosphere for this game."
There are still questions around just how good this Nebraska basketball team really is. Mainly because they continue to have long periods where they can't score, nor play defense. But as the team continues on in the 2025-26 season, they're impressing people while improving every step of the way.
