The Nebraska women's basketball coaching staff will see familiar faces in new roles next season. The moves, announced by Amy Williams and the athletic department earlier this week demonstrate once again the changing landscape of college athletics.
The two most prominent moves announced on Friday were promotion of Amanda Hart to the Huskers’ general manager role, alongside Taylor Edwards moving into a full-time assistant coaching role. The general manager role especially is something that no college program had even two years ago. However with NIL and the transfer portal being a higher money situation and more time consuming, most of the big schools now feature such a position.
Amanda Hart’s GM role headlines Nebraska women’s basketball staff reshuffle under Amy Williams
The Nebraska women’s basketball program getting its own general manager shows how serious Amy Willams’ is being taken around the athletic department.
Considering she’s taken the team to the NCAA Tournament in back-to-back seasons (a feat men’s coach Fred Hoiberg hasn’t managed) she should be high in the pecking order.
Hart moves from Nebraska's Director of Operations (a position she’s held since 2016), to General Manger.
She has worked alongside Williams since the head coach came to Lincoln and helped oversee five consecutive postseason tournament trips, including three NCAA Tournament bids in the past four seasons.
Edwards was a graduate assistant manager for the Nebraska women’s basketball team the past two seasons, helping the Cornhuskers to those back-to-back Big Dance appearances in 2023-2024 and 2024-2025. In addition to her position as assistant coach, Edwards will be Nebraska's assistant director of scouting and operations.
