The Nebraska women’s basketball team is officially in the NCAA Tournament. Getting to the Big Dance wasn’t without its drama, considering that the Huskers were the last team to get announced during the official Selection Sunday show.

Officially, the Cornhuskers are a 10th seed and will face off against the Louisville Cardinals in the first round of the tournament. On its face, as far as 7-10 matchups go, this would seem to be a pretty favorable one for the Huskers. The Cardinals are a good team but they’re far from dominant.

Should the Nebraska women’s basketball team find a way to get past their first round opponent, it would seem likely they will take on the TCU Horned Frogs in the second round. The Big 12 squad has an impressive 1-2 punch with Hailey Lith and Sedona Prince. The two ladies are the top two scorers on TCU while Van Lith leads her squad in assists and steals and Prince leads the group in blocks and rebounds.

Meanwhile, the Cardinals limped to the finish line and Selection Sunday. They lost their final regular season game to Notre Dame. Then won their first ACC tournament game against Clemson before falling to Duke.

In the regular season, the Cards were 5th in the conference thanks in large part to a backcourt of Jayda Curry and Tajianna Roberts, who both averaged 13 points per game.

The Nebraska women’s basketball team will look to notch a win on Friday, though a time for the tipoff hasn’t been announced yet.
