While Husker fans sit and wait for the start of the Nebraska football season, the Nebraska volleyball team has already offered plenty of fun and, more importantly, plenty of dominating play. So much dominating play that one of the best players on head coach Dani Busboom Kelly’s squad was given one of the sport’s biggest honors in the first full week of the season.
On Monday, Bergen Reilly was among the players to be the first of the fall to get Big Ten conference honors.
Bergen Reilly follows final 2025 Big Ten honor with first Setter of the Week award in 2026
Reilly, a senior from Sioux Falls, South Dakota, has long been one of the best players in the conference, and that was underlined again on Monday when she was named “Setter of the Week.” The conference, in a release about the awards, laid out exactly why the Nebraska star was given the honor:
- Led the No. 1 Huskers to a sweep against UNLV and No. 2 Texas and was named the MVP of the Players Era Showcase.
- The Nebraska offense hit a combined .315, with Reilly setting four different Huskers to at least 10 kills on the weekend. Reilly averaged 10.33 assists, 2.50 digs and 1.17 kills per set over the weekend.
- Against UNLV, Reilly recorded a double-double with 32 assists, 10 digs, five kills and three blocks.
- Against No. 2 Texas, Reilly tallied 30 assists, five digs, two kills, two service aces and a block.

That last little note carries more weight than it might at first glance. The last Setter of the Week was handed out last November. In other words, Reilly earned the last honor of the 2025 season and now has the first honor of the 2026 season.
Reilly, along with Andi Jackson, Harper Murray, and Andi Jackson, are all fourth-year seniors, meaning that they could come back for a fifth year under the new eligibility rulings. If the setter does, she could go down as one of the best in the history of the sport.
For now, Bergen Reilly will have to settle for being one of the best to ever play at Nebraska and in the Big Ten.
