Nebraska football sets sights on flipping electric Big Ten commit

Nebraska football makes bold move to flip Big Ten rival’s commit, eyeing a dynamic pass rusher with speed and serious upside.

The Nebraska football team is looking high and low for its next big commit. When it comes to Wydeek Collier, it even means the Huskers are looking at players that have already committed to a Big Ten rival.

Collier reported that he received an offer from the Huskers on Friday morning. NU becomes the latest Power 4 squad that is hoping they can pull the 3-star defensive end away from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights where the prospect just committed a few weeks ago.

It’s not a secret what the Nebraska football coaches see in Wydeek Collier. During his junior season at Neuman-Goretti High School, he played both sides of the ball. As a wide receiver, Collier had 13 catches for 270 yards and two touchdowns. On defense, he had 34 tackles, 14 for loss, paired with 8 sacks.

The two things stand out about Collier’s current game. He’s got an impressive reach and he’s speedy, especially on defense. In High school, Collier ran a 4.6 40 yard dash and he has a wingspan of 83 inches. Those measurables alone make him a promising pass-rushing prospect. 

Of course, the reason why Collier He will have to gain a good amount of weight once he gets into college to be able to compete with many college linemen. That’s why he’s currently only rated as a 3-star. 

But it’s clear that the Nebraska football team is convinced he can contribute. And they’re willing to try and steal him away from the Rutgers Scarlet Knights.
