Sunday has been the wildest day in college football when it comes to the Transfer Portal, and it's been a rather up-and-down day for the Nebraska football team. The Huskers scored their quarterback in Kenny Minchey, but they've also lost an early battle for an offensive lineman. Then, within minutes of each other, defensive line target Ryan Henderson changed plans, no longer visiting Lincoln. At the same time, current Husker DL Keona Davis announced his portal entry.

Henderson instead heading to an SEC school is one of those things that's frustrating but far from crippling. The loss of Keona Davis is bigger, even if he hasn't had the kind of impact Nebraska fans hoped he'd have.

This is the second straight year Davis has entered the portal. A year ago, Nebraska convinced Davis to return after a promising freshman season. The 6-foot-5, 275-pound lineman was regarded as one of the stronger pieces the Huskers had on their front.

What Sunday’s portal swings mean for Nebraska moving forward

In 2025, Davis played 406 snaps, ranking third among Nebraska defensive linemen, behind only Elijah Juedy (464) and Williams Nwaneri (463). Davis was credited with 10 QB pressures, including two sacks, one QB hit, and seven hurries.

He is now the 18th Husker player to enter the transfer portal, bringing the known roster size before portal additions down to 99 players. With Minchey, it's back up to 100.

Davis is the fourth known Nebraska player who has gone into the portal on Sunday, joining defensive backs Larry Tarver and Brice Turner and offensive lineman Houston Kaahaaina-Torres.
