As the Nebraska football team prepares for the start of fall camp next week, there is one area that a Husker analyst thinks might cause some concern. What might surprise some is that Rivals' Tim Verghese isn't worried about the Huskers' rushing attack but instead is a bit concerned about the passing attack.
As the analyst pointed out, with Dana Holgorsen as the offensive coordinator, people outside Nebraska are almost certainly expecting a high octane passing attack. And that kind of offense will certainly be mixed in, but Verghese believes the real strength and the real focus of the 2025 offense will be on the ground and at least part of the reason for that is he believes the offense line is better suited for a ground attack.
Nebraska offensive line faces biggest test in long-pass protection
"I think what's going to surprise, I think, the national audience is how much Nebraska leans on Emmitt Johnson, leans on the strength of the interior," Verghese said during an appearance on Hurrdat Sports Radio.
“All of my concerns are how are they gonna hold up in a long developing concept… I have no concerns about them as a run blocking unit.” - @TimVerghese

If the Huskers want to lean on the run game, they have the right guys leading the way.

"When I think about the offensive line going into the year, all of my concerns are how are they going to hold up? In a long-developing concept, how are they going to hold up when Dylan (Raiola) has to sit there and pass the ball and progress through three, four different reads? I have no concerns about them as a run-blocking unit. Even the questions about Elijah Pritchett; They're all about him, mainly as a pass blocker. I don't really have too many questions about him as a run blocker."
There are bound to be some Husker fans who hear those comments and get quite nervous. Especially considering how much hype has been made of the wide receiver room this winter, spring and summer.
It's worth pointing out that the analyst isn't saying the offense line will be a sieve when it comes to the passing game. Simply that at the moment, they look like a unit that is stronger when opening holes for the running backs.
The questions and concerns around how the Nebraska football offense will look under Dana Holgorsen will start to get addressed at the end of the month. They'll need to find the answers quickly as they open up the season against Cincinnati in less than a month.
