When the Nebraska football team opens its home season on September 6, Memorial Stadium will have some new looks, including new turf and coloring on the field. There will also be plenty of new food options, and for the first time ever, Husker fans will be able to buy alcoholic drinks and beer while the game is going on. On Wednesday, NU started rolling out more details about the food and beverage options for this season, and one announcement, regarding how much beer will be available to purchase, has some fans a bit nervous.
More than a few members of the Husker faithful are looking forward to eating the new food and drinking the new booze. Beer and alcohol will be sold until the end of the third quarter, allowing for some time for a cool-down before everyone heads out, either celebrating another Cornhusker win or angry and depressed after a loss.
Nebraska football could see a beer availability crunch for home games
However, according to Sean Callahan, there might be a bit of a rush on beer by Nebraska football fans, at least at the start of the season, while everyone is feeling out the new Aramark Concessions era at Memorial Stadium. On Wednesday night, Callahan reported that NU expects to have 121,000 tall boys of beer available every week.

Quick math on the stadium's capacity of 85,458 people shows that there will only be 1.4 tall boys available per fan. That has more than a few people wondering if there will be times when the stock is entirely sold out.
Granted, not every fan will be of legal drinking age, and not every fan of legal age will want any beer, let alone more than one. However, considering the stadium will only serve two alcoholic drinks per transaction, it might be a safe bet that there will be times when fans will find a return trip for more beer is too late.
All of this is brand new for the Nebraska football program as the Huskers look at more ways to bring in revenue. Should beer sell out early and often, it stands to reason that the number of tall boys available later in the season can get boosted depending on demand.
