The original Maurice Purify was one of the best wide receivers to come through the Nebraska football program's modern era. Now his son, Maurice Purify II has a chance to forge his own Huskers path.
The younger Purify was a surprise signing on Monday night. The Omaha Westside product was a commit to Washington State, but he decommitted over the winter and hadn't decided on a new team until this week.

Before signing with Nebraska, the 6-foot-4, 170-pound Purify ranked as the 14th-best player in Nebraska and the 215th wide receiver overall in the 2026 class. He held offers from Lindenwood, Northern Illinois, Indiana State, Washington State, and Fresno State. He'd also been talking to Vanderbilt and Kansas State after he decided against enrolling with the Cougars.

Last season, Purify notched 41 catches for 589 yards and 10 touchdowns according to MaxPreps. However, it's his ability as a dual-sport athlete that's really drawn attention. He's one of the best Track & Field athletes in Nebraska and has the best long jump in the state this year.

He was also a Class A state qualifier as a junior in the 100 meters, 200 meters, and long jump. The legacy player won silver in the long jump with a 24-foot leap. and set a season-best long jump rep of 24-1.75. Added season-best sprints of 10.87 and 22.20 in the 100 and 200, respectively. Also helped Omaha Westside's 4x100 relay win bronze at the state meet. Logged a 7.25 indoor 60-meter dash earlier in 2025.
Maurice Purify II is definitely an interesting late addition for the Nebraska football team. He joins a crowded and talented wide receiver room, but he has the talent and athleticism to make some noise.
