Nebraska football locks down prospect thought to be wavering
While people are rightfully concerned over what’s happening on the field for the Nebraska football team, it looks like Matt Rhule and company are having some real success on the recruiting front. And that success is expected to extend beyond flipping a 4-star linebacker from Alabama.
While the Huskers are expected to flip a few more players, avoiding one of their prize commits from flipping is almost as good. And it looks like they’ve done just that on Friday evening.
The Nebraska football team had been worried about Jeremiah Jones. The 4-star athlete who could end up playing any one of a number of positions in college had been looking hard at the Missouri Tigers. However, the Kentucky prospect made it clear he’s staying committed to NU.
Nebraska football locks down Jeremiah Jones
Jones made the announcement short and sweet. In a Twitter post he simply said “No Ian flippin.” He included two corn cob emojis and a GBR hashtag just to make sure that everyone knew exactly what he was talking about.
As the icing on the cake, Jones will be taking another visit to Lincoln to watch the Huskers take on the Wisconsin Badgers and try to get bowl eligible.
It’s a nice lockdown of a prospect that could play receiver, or safety, linebacker or edge for the Cornhuskers. He was also someone who would have been a big loss for Matt Rhule and his staff that would have almost assuredly gotten some naysayers ramping up their talk about not trusting they can do the job.
It’s also work pointing out that it looks like a big reason Nebraska football managed to keep Jeremiah Jones on board was wide receiver coach Garrett McGuire. Considering he’s now the assistant coach with the hottest seat since Marcus Satterfield has been replaced as offensive coordinator. McGuire is almost certainly relishing the win.
