Another day, another top offensive line target the Nebraska football team is in the running for. Matt Rhule, Donovan Raiola and company have managed to make a habit in grabbing the best front line players in the country. Where they could use some improvement is actually hauling them in and making them Huskers.
Nebraska has another shot at doing just that when it comes to Kelvin Obot. The top player in the state of Idaho doesn’t always get so many Power conference teams calling. However, the best in the country are trying hard to land the 4-star prospect.
Obot recently announced his Top 5 and the Nebraska football team is officially in the running. The problem is that now they need to fight off the likes of USC, Oregon, Utah and Michigan. The Huskers have taken a big first step, but they are far from out of the danger zone.

Can Nebraska football win the recruiting war for Kelvin Obot?
Obot just moved all the way up to No. 9 overall according to On3's proprietary rankings and he’s the No. 69 player in the industry rankings. He’s also the No. 7 offensive tackle. He’s the kind of player that can make or break a recruiting class, especially one like the Cornhuskers, who desperately need some maulers to clear the way.
Trying to do his part to lay the groundwork in his search for home, the Idaho product has taken visits to several programs and hosted even more for conversations at his school.
It’s possible that the 6-foot-6, 300 pound prospect could be quite close to cutting his list from five to four. Oregon could be the odd man out sooner, rather than later. The Ducks already have a commitment from Mater Dei (California) five-star offensive lineman Kodi Greene, and are a serious contender for Nixa (Missouri) five-star offensive tackle Jackson Cantwell.
It’s worth noting that there was a time that the Huskers were considered a top landing spot for Cantwell. For one reason or another they’ve been out of the race for him for quite a while.
Nebraska football landing Kelvin Obot over Oregon, as well as the other power schools would only make things all the sweeter. He last visited Lincoln in February and Rhule and company are hoping to land an official soon.
