As the Nebraska football team is less than a week away from starting its season, one of the biggest questions still remaining is how the running back corps will look. With Isaiah Mozee, there's an added question as to how he's going to look trying a new position. And his position coach wants fans to keep that in mind while he learns on the job.
Mozee was a top-rated wide receiver commit when he signed with the Huskers last winter. However, to get on the field as a true freshman and because NU's running back room seemed a bit thin, he moved over to running back this summer.
Nebraska football fans urged to have patience with Isaiah Mozee
Speaking about the newest Nebraska running back in the room, EJ Barthel addressed the talent that Isaiah Mozee has. However, he also cautioned that there is absolutely a learning curve and that fans should be patient with the true freshman as he gets a grasp on a new part of the playbook.
As Justin Frommer from the Hasting Tribune reported, Barthel talked about how Mozee has natural instincts in space. His ability to make moves as a wide receiver has translated well to running back.
However, Barthel added that the transition from wide receiver will take some time. That could mean that it will be a while until Mozee gets a ton of playing time. Emmett Johnson is the indisputed starter for the Huskers. Then, it's assumed that Kwinten Ives will be his backup. Ives missed some time at the start of camp with an injury, but he's been back at practice for a while now and is one of the only other backs that has experience playing in games.
The Nebraska football team has generated a lot of excitement around the offense. If Isaiah Mozee and the rest of the running backs can carry the load, 2025 could be very special.
