Nebraska teasing this offensive flavor is almost too perfect to believe for Husker fans

It's officially that part of fall camp where clips of Nebraska players looking big, strong, and fast are circulating the web over and over. The talk all offseason about how the offense under Dana Holgorsen will change to look more like what he ran in the Air Raid has led many people to wonder just what it will look like. On Tuesday, one set of clips got plenty of Husker fans excited, not because it looked like the Air Raid attack but because it looked like the attack Cornhusker fans haven't really seen for years.

KETV's Lauren Michelson soft-peddled the clip of the Husker quarterbacks working with Jamal Rule, Isaiah Mozee, and Mekhi Nelson as the trio of backs competes for the starting job. However, the reporter had to know what she was doing when she said that the running backs were "getting in work."

The clip that has Nebraska fans all over the internet quite excited about the offense this fall is that while the video does indeed show running backs getting work in, it's the work they're getting in that stands out. The clip showed the Huskers running the option. Over and over again. It shows the quarterback starting to carry the ball; a defender looks as though he's committing to the ball carrier and then pitches it off to either Rule, Mozee, or Nelson. 

"Is that…Nebraska practicing the option??" wrote Average Joe Sports Show podcast host Elijah Herbel. He was hardly the only person who saw the return of the long-missed attack, which made NU the premier program for the better part of 50 years.

"The speed option in Nebraska. Somewhere, someone nods there head in approval"

While Nebraska fans should be cautioned that this might not mean much, it's not enough to stop people from getting quite excited about what they might see in the fall.

Nebraska won't be shifting entirely to an option offense. Anyone who hopes they will is likely to be disappointed. However, with quarterbacks like Anthony Colandrea and TJ Lateef in the room, there are plays specifically designed to take advantage of their talents as runners.

There will very obviously be some option in the Nebraska attack this year. Those hoping to see this as the predominant offense will be annoyed when it isn't. Those who want a taste of the past could be very happy to see what Dana Holgorsen has in store this fall.
