Anytime a program like Nebraska football brings in a new coach from another school, there's always a hope that the coach can bring some of his best players with him. With Rob Aurich and the Huskers, pass rushers are needed badly. That's why when August Salvati announced he'll enter the transfer portal when it opens next month, NU fans should have hope that the edge rusher is Lincoln-bound.
Salvati is the second pass rushing specialist from the Aztecs to announce he's headed elsewhere. It wouldn't hurt to bring both he and Jared Badie into town and see if they can juice up the Huskers' pass rush.
Less than a week after news broke that Aurich would be Nebraska's next defensive coordinator, former three-star edge August Salvati announced he was looking for a new school. For the veteran defender, the move comes after his most productive collegiate season to date.
San Diego State edge August Salvati plans to enter the portal, a source tells @chris_hummer.

August Salvati is a potential portal addition who fits Nebraska’s defensive priorities
In 2025, Salvati totaled six tackles, 3.5 sacks, and one interception during the regular season while helping Aurich boast the nation's No. 7 total defense for the year. His snap count was modest, racking up just 93 plays and appearing in only three games. However, the production still stands, as Salvati's sack total would instantly become a team-high on Nebraska's squad during the same timeframe.
He also showed that when he's allowed to cut loose, he can cause havoc. The best game of his career came when San Diego State upset ACC opponent Cal 34-0. Salvati logged two sacks in that game and helped the defense log the shutout.
It's fair to wonder whether Salvati might have some hard feelings towards Aurich, as that was the last time he recorded a stat for more than a month. Still, if there are no hard feelings, August Salvati would be a heck of a get for Nebraska as a pass rush specialist.
