Former Nebraska football great Lavonte David hasn’t returned to Lincoln in quite a while. This spring, he finally decided it was time to visit his alma mater, and when he did, he said he was blown away by how much had changed.

David, who has put together a Hall of Fame-worthy career with the Tampa Bay Bucs, sat down for an interview with ESPN’s Mina Kimes earlier this week. Among the topics he touched on were how different things look under the new regime in the athletic department and with head coach Matt Rhule.

Nebraska legend Lavonte David says the Huskers’ facilities outshine most in the NFL

"I visited a couple weeks ago," the Nebraska football legend said. "I haven't been up there in a very long time and I was lost to honest with you. I went to the old football building and they were like, 'no, the football building is this way.'"

David played two seasons in Lincoln after transferring from Fort Scott CC. His final year with the Huskers was 2011, and until his most recent trip back, he hadn’t had a chance to see all the renovations to the facilities.

"I was in awe of everything that I saw," David said. "These guys have an advantage for everything. They have the pools, they have the tanks, it's just incredible. When I saw them, I told them I was jealous for what they have. A lot of NFL facilities don't have the stuff they have. With that stuff they have.”

He also explained why all this impressive stuff is essential in recruiting, even if money talks more than anything else.

“I think that's going to put them ahead."

The former Husker linebacker has a point. When players come to look at where they’re playing, they want to be impressed. They want to see plenty of amenities. It appears the Nebraska football team is doing just that. It doesn’t hurt to have one of the best defensive players in the history of the NFL giving them a thumbs up either.
