With the football season quickly coming to an end after the Cornhuskers' bowl game, this means Nebraska basketball is getting rolling, and this could be a big season. Fred Hoiberg has led his team to a 10-0 start after taking down Big Ten foe Wisconsin in a major fashion.
The Cornhuskers walked away with a huge 90-60 home win over Wisconsin, a team that last year put a solid beatdown on Nebraska. Pinnacle Bank Arena was rocking as the Cornhuskers demolished the Badgers in a very physical matchup.
So physical that Nebraska forward Berke Büyüktuncel ended up having to leave the game due to a bloody lip that required two stitches to close. As Büyüktuncel was leaving the game, it could be seen on camera that he was hyping up the crowd on his way out, and he left to a roaring ovation.
Berke Büyüktuncel uses bloody lip to get Nebraska crowd on its feet during huge win
Nebraska was ranked in the AP Top 25 this week for the first time since 2018, and this is the first time the program has started 10-0. This team feels pretty special, and after the game against Wisconsin, Hoiberg could have the right unit to do some damage in the Big Ten.
During the second half of the game, Büyüktuncel successfully defended a layup attempt from Wisconsin and took an elbow to the lip that caused it to slip and begin gushing blood. After the Conrhuskers went down and scored a basket of their own, the refs stopped play to allow Büyüktuncel to come off the court due to blood.
As he left the court, Büyüktuncel could be seen pumping his arms to get the crowd back into the game. After the game, Büyüktuncel explained his reasoning for it.
"We just wanted to win this game way too much."

Nebraska wanted to get the win over the Badgers. especially after how their matchup last season went. In Madison, Wisconsin took down Nebraska 83-55, which was the final loss of a six-game losing streak in Big Ten play.
Nebraska knew they needed the fans on their side in this game, and they certainly showed up big for the team, being as loud and rowdy as possible.
The Cornhuskers will take their 10-0 record on the road on Saturday to take on No. 13 Illinois in what should be a very exciting ranked matchup.
