Nebraska Cornhuskers suffer setback, snap 25 game match winning streak

If the Nebraska Cornhuskers winning streak had to end, it's better for it to end in the regular season than any other time.

The Nebraska Cornhuskers finally ran into a team bent but didn't break under the unending pressure John Cook's squad tends to put on its opponents. In a four-set match, NU snapped its 25-match winning streak and did so against Penn State, the only opponent left on the schedule that realistically had a chance to do it.

Things started out rough for the Huskers, losing the first set 25-22. However, in the second set, it looked like NU might start to go on a roll. They evened the match up with a 25-14 second set, but then lost the next two 25-22 and 25-23.

With the the loss, the Nebraska Cornhuskers suffer a blow to their ego more than anything else. A win on Saturday against Maryland will still give them a share of the Big Ten title. They're still going to the NCAA tournament no matter what happens next. And they'll still be one of the top seeds in the tourney.

Nebraska Cornhuskers lose for first time since September

September 3. That's the last time John Cook's squad lost a match. We're two days away from December. It was a heck of a run.

It was the kind of run that the Huskers can lean on. They can try and get that focus back and go on another run. There isn't a team out there that is obviously better. The National championship game should be the Nebraska Cornhuskers vs the Pitt Panthers. And if those two teams do meet up, it should be a heck of a showdown.
