The Nebraska Cornhuskers football team might have suffered a disappointing loss to the Minnesota Golden Gophers, but the volleyball team continues to go on an unreal tear. Dani Busboom Kelly's squad is now 18-0 in her first season at the helm after winning both matches this weekend.

On Friday, NU won its eighth sweep in a row, 25-15, 25-18, 25-20 at Michigan State on Friday night in front of an MSU school-record crowd of 11,578 at the Breslin Center. Harper Murray led the way with 13 kills and no errors for a .500 hitting percentage, as Nebraska (17-0, 7-0 B1G) hit .383 as a team. Murray is hitting .569 over her last two matches with no hitting errors (29-0-51). She also became the 25th Husker to reach 1,000 career kills, as her 12th kill of the game pushed her across that milestone.

On Sunday, the Nebraska Cornhuskers notched their ninth sweep in a row. They toppled Michigan in a sold-out Crisler Center (25-18, 25-13, 25-18). The Huskers hit .390 and held Michigan to a season-low .079 clip. The Huskers have not lost a set in more than a month, with Creighton being the last team to win a set, on September 16.

Former Husker coach joins the ranks of the unemployed

It wasn't just a bad weekend for current Nebraska coaches. On Sunday, former OC Jay Norvell was fired from his post with the Colorado State Rams. Norvell is the second ex-Husker to get fired this season, almost a week to the day that Trent Bray was fired by Oregon State.

  • While the Huskers had a rough Friday, one quarterback who will be playing for them in 2027 had a fantastic night. Trae Taylor continues to light up the scoreboard, as he completed 29 passes for 384 yards and four scores while adding 53 yards on the ground and a rushing touchdown. His high school team clinched a playoff berth with a 42-14 win.
  • It was also a good weekend for the Nebraska Cornhuskers basketball program, which beat No. 8 BYU in an exhibition game. Rienk Mast led the way in the 90-89 win with 30 points, impressing the Cougars greatly in the process.
