Braden Frager tried to tell Nebraska basketball fans. When he announced he was coming back for another season, he teased that teammate Pryce Sandfort would do the same. On Monday, Sandfort proved the Big Ten's best Sixth-Man a master prognosticator.
The Nebraska basketball team officially announced Sandfort resigned for his senior season, bringing back perhaps the most important part of a team looking to reload rather than rebuild for the 2026-27 season.
As Fred Hoiberg and his team work on figuring out how to replace departing players like his son Sam, Jamarcus Lawrence and center Rienk Mast, the Huskers no longer have to worry about keeping the sharp shooting forward who could also immediately be considered a front runner for conference player of the year.

Pryce Sandfort returns to Nebraska basketball for his senior season
Sandfort's first season in Lincoln was a remarkable one. He joined the Cornhuskers after starting his college career with Iowa where he started just two of the 35 games he appeared in. His career high prior to Nebraska was 8.8 points per game.
This past season, he started all 35 games for the Huskers (despite spending half the campaign dealing with a sports hernia that was only disclosed after the NCAA Tournament.) He also averaged almost 19 points a game while shooting 41% from 3-point land.
This offseason, the worries about Sandfort leaving were more about whether he might declare for the NBA Draft. The announcement of his official return indicates he's decided to make one more run with Nebraska before testing the next level of basketball.
