Fresh off getting their first commit of the 2026 class, Fred Hoiberg and the Nebraska basketball team have set their sights on another talented hooper in Jacob Lanier.

Lanier is a 6-foot-5, 175-pound shooting guard out of Parkview Magnet (Little Rock, AR) who is the No. 2 player in Arkansas, the No. 27 shooting guard, and the No. 98 player overall in the 2026 class according to the Rivals Industry Rankings. Last month, he took home the Top 30 MVP award at the Pangos All-American Camp, showing that he is indeed one of the best players in the class who is still uncommitted.

According to On3's Robin Washut, Lanier has become a top target of the Nebraska basketball program, and the timing likely isn't a coincidence. With the commitment of Colin Rice earlier in the week, just what the Huskers want and need to do for their next class is coming into focus.

While the Cornhuskers have zeroed in on Lanier, they now have their work cut out for them. He's got some of the best programs in the country going to all his summer basketball tournaments to see what he can do.

Arkansas, Ole Miss, Clemson, Creighton and a host of other schools are all also pursuing Lanier. Thanks to being his home state school, the Razorbacks are currently considered the front runners. However, the Huskers are hoping to make some noise.

The next step will be the Nebraska basketball team getting Jacob Lanier to take a vist this fall. Ideally, he'd come to Lincoln to see a game. And then the Cornhuskers could make their final pitch.
