Following three losses in four games to Top 15 teams, some are starting to wonder if Nebraska basketball's luster has worn off. Don't count CBS Sports Network's Brent Stover among them. In fact, the analyst is all-in on the Huskers after he appeared in a video making predictions for 10 teams, nine of which are traditional National Title contenders.
It already says something that the Cornhuskers were included in a group otherwise made up of Alabama, Kansas, UCONN, Iowa State, Houston, Kentucky, Arizona, Purdue, and Illinois. NU is rarely (ok, never) in this kind of conversation.
And yet, as Stover went through the list, it became apparent that Nebraska had convinced him they're for real. When he got to Fred Hoiberg's team, he predicted them to make the National Title game.

How Nebraska earned a shocking National Title projection from CBS Sports
He also has a very interesting opponent for the Huskers when they make the final game. He believes the Huskers will face off one more time against the Illinois Fighting Illini. Assuming the two teams don't meet each other in the Big Ten Tournament, it would be the third and tie-breaking matchup between the two schools.
For his part, Stover believes Brad Underwood's squad will come out the winner. Still, it would certainly be hard to be disappointed if NU manages to make it that far after having never won even a first-round game in the program's history.
It's also strange to see Nebraska predicted to go so much farther than those more accomplished teams:
- Alabama is predicted to go to the Elite Eight.
- Kansas's run, according to Stover, ends in the Sweet 16.
- UCONN also makes the Elite Eight.
- Iowa State goes all the way to the Final Four.
- Houston gets knocked out in the Round of 32.
- Kentucky is ousted in the First Round.
- Arizona makes the Final Four.
- Purdue makes the Elite Eight.
This would mean that Stover's Final Four is Nebraska, Illinois, Arizona, and Iowa State. That would certainly be a sight to behold if it came to pass.
