Former Nebraska baseball star Max Anderson doesn't seem to be giving the Detroit Tigers many options. The man who blasted home run after home run when he was with the Huskers is starting to do the same in the pros. And while he's still stuck at Double-A Erie for now, the numbers he's putting up in just his third professional season sure seem to be making a case for a call-up to the Big Leagues, at least at the end of the year when rosters expand.
If there is a reason why the infielder isn't on the fast track to the majors, it's because his 2025 campaign is so much better than his first two years, which were far from bad. However, he seems to have put it all together this year and Anderson could also rocket up the prospect rankings when they're shuffled next.
Former Nebraska Cornhuskers slugger Max Anderson torching Double-A pitching in third pro season
On the year, the former Nebraska baseball star is slashing .352/.394/.596/.990 with 11 home runs. Those homers equal his total number of round-trippers in 2024 already. He's also got 49 RBI and just 39 strikeouts to 15 walks.
Even better news for Max Anderson and his case for a call-up is that he's actually been even better in June. This month, he's slashing .378/.427/.683/1.110, and he's hit 4 homers in 18 games so far.
The biggest reason why Max Anderson is showing that he at least deserves a move to Triple-A is that this is his second partial stint with Erie, and he seems to be demonstrating that he has learned from repeated at-bats against this level of pitching.
The former Nebraska baseball star continues to make his case for the call. If not to the Detroit Tigers, then certainly to a higher level of the minor leagues. As the season goes on, he's getting even better and better. One has to think the Detroit Tigers will notice any day now.
