A new list from Fox Sports honors one of the greatest players in Nebraska football history. Defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh was named the most outstanding college football player to ever wear the No. 93.
The timing for this particular honor is certainly good considering that Suh just announced earlier this summer he was officially retiring from the NFL. Granted, even if he hadn't have stepped down from his playing days, he'd still be right at the top of the list of the best college players to ever wear his jersey number. Especially since he's one of the best players to ever wear any number.
Why Fox Sports lists Ndamukong Suh as college football’s top No. 93
Suh is one of the most dominant defensive linemen in college football history. He finished his Nebraska football run with 215 career tackles, ranking him 24th in school history and fourth among defensive linemen. He also tallied 57 career tackles for loss, 1.5 behind the school record holder, Grant Wistrom. He also finished fourth in school history in career sacks, with 24 career sacks, which is tied for fourth in Nebraska history.
As far as why Fox made the right decision in naming Ndamukong Suh the best to ever wear No. 93, they hit the nail on the head.
"Suh is among the greatest defensive tackles in college football history. He finished his career at Nebraska with 215 tackles, 50 tackles for loss and 24 sacks. During his senior year, Suh put together one of the greatest seasons of all time for a defensive player, totaling 85 tackles and 12 sacks en route to being named a unanimous All-American and the AP Player of the Year. Suh was the first defensive tackle in a quarter-century to be invited to the Heisman Trophy ceremony, finishing fourth in the 2009 race."
Ndamukong Suh's playing days might be over, but the Nebraska football legend will be discussed and talked about for years to come.
