The Class of 2027 is really starting to come more into form for Nebraska, as the Cornhuskers already have six players committed. Now, they have lost a couple to de-committments, but it is still so early in the 2027 recruiting cycle, and head coach Matt Rhule has a chance to really make some waves in the thick of the offseason.
Rhule is getting even more aggressive with some of his choices of recruits to go after, the latest one being four-star interior offensive lineman Terrance Smith. The Lansdale, Pennsylvania native has received a lot of interest from big programs like Alabama, Florida, LSU, Michigan, Ohio State, Oregon, Tennessee, Notre Dame, and more.
Now, Nebraska is getting in the mix with an official offer given to Smith on December 18, as announced on his social media.
After a great conversation with @GeepWade I am blessed to have received an offer from the University of Nebraska!!🌽🌽 @BigMenNTrenches @SWiltfong_ @BrianDohn247 #AGTG pic.twitter.com/29C6h5eJw2

Nebraska could use Terrance Smith for major offensive line depth in the future
Nebraska had a serious need for more offensive linemen in the 2025 season, as not only did the front struggle at times, but they also dealt with numerous injuries. Getting more commitments from offensive linemen on the recruiting trail would not be a bad idea for Rhule and the Cornhuskers.
Smith is rated as a four-star offensive lineman according to 247Sports and is ranked the No. 12 player at that position and the No. 9 player in the state of Pennsylvania in the 2027 class. Even though he wouldn't be in the building until 2027, Smith could help add the depth that Nebraska desperately needs right now.
With the No. 5-ranked recruiting class for 2027, it makes sense for Rhule to be a little more aggressive with his choices of recruits to go after. Nebraska has a chance to make a statement now, even with quarterback Dylan Raiola choosing to enter the transfer portal.
