This week isn't simply the last week of the regular season for Nebraska football. It's the week that the Huskers take on one of their most hated rivals, even if that rivalry is still relatively young. Adding fuel to the fire is the fact that Iowa has absolutely dominated this series since the Huskers joined the Big Ten.

Despite the record being one-sided, the games have often featured a last-second win or a one-score victory, and that's only added fuel to the fire. And then there's the trash-talking between the two sides and their supporters.

The latest salvo was fired by former Iowa Hawkeyes tight end George Kittle, who is now one of the best players at his position in the NFL. Kittle took issue with some comments that former Nebraska great Will Compton said earlier in the week about the rivalry game. Kittle let the Huskers and Compton have it with both barrels after his San Francisco 49ers posted a 20-9 victory over the Carolina Panthers.

The tight end was egged on by ESPN's Scott Van Pelt, but it didn't seem like he needed much of a push to get revved up.

"Hey, Will Compton, didn't really appreciate your voice memo on the day of my Monday night football game, talking crap to me about Nebraska-Iowa," Kittle started before really getting rolling.

"Didn't settle with me. You know what? I didn't like it. And, you know, that's the type of thing Nebraska does. They take cheap shots. You know, hey, I'm preparing for a Monday night football game on national television, and you're coming to me about Nebraska. Nebraska-Iowa, that means you're scared. You're terrified. You lost by 30 at Penn State."

"They just fired their coach, who lost by 30. Are you kidding me? I was going to come in there, run the ball down your throat, and there's nothing you can do about it. Sit on the bus that doesn't go anywhere and shut your mouth, Will Compton."

And with that, Nebraska-Iowa Hate Week is officially underway.
