Matt Rhule knew the Nebraska defense needed some help, and for that reason, he brought in defensive backs coach Addison Williams from UCF this past offseason. Williams played college football with South Carolina before an injury ended his career, and since then, he has gotten into coaching and coached at UCF, Coastal Carolina, Auburn, Furman, Tusculum, and South Carolina.
So Williams has been around the block in college football and when he met with the media yesterday after fall camp practices, he has some very high words of praise for Rhule.
"This is no knock on anybody," Williams said. " I've worked at some really good places for some really good football coaches, but the culture here is unbelievable...just how close the guys are in the locker room."

High praise by Huskers DB Coach Addison Williams on what Matt Rhule, his staff, & the players are building in Lincoln! pic.twitter.com/OKJXp9RyGx
Clearly, Williams has coached with a lot of different head coaches based on his resume, so for him to say that about Rhule's program and what he is building at Nebraska is huge. Williams did say there was really only one other school that felt this special, and that was when he was with Coastal Carolina.
The things that make this program special, according to Williams, are that guys can be out battling on the field, ready to go to war, but then when Rhule blows the whistle, everyone comes in hugging each other and playing around with one another. To have that kind of camaraderie amongst the team that is facilitated by the head coach is not something seen within many football programs.
There is no doubt that Rhule cares about these players and what he is doing at Nebraska, and it is getting noticed by the players and now his fellow coaches as well. A lot of people are saying this is the year for Nebraska under Rhule, and it in no way could be possible without the right culture on and off the field, and Rhule is showing he has just that.
